Opinions of Mos Def are as divided as opinions of Marmite. However, the New York artist has graciously remained consistently unique throughout his career. Diverging from the stereotypical hip-hop regalia and donning a more creative approach to his outputs. His albums are never limited by genre and his bizarre creativity has led him to diversifying roles in films such as 'Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy' and 'The Italian Job'. With the release of his 2009 album, 'The Ecstatic' (titled after the book of the same name by Victor LaValle), Mos Def continues to highlight our lives with his own musical interpretations.

To accompany and compliment his musical efforts, Cognito (photographer and filmaker) has made a exclusive documented collection of Mos Def's journey in the production and support of The Ecstatic over two years. The exhibition consists of candid images of Mos Def in various locations as well as some other familiar faces. The set is aptly named 'Ecstatic Moments'.

In addition to all the above, in collaboration with Union LA, there is also a set of limited edition t-shirts available with printed images of the man himself. I am always a fan of well printed photographic tees as long as the subject is worth wearing. Even without relation to the album, this perfectly composed and accurate capture of Mos Def is a definite winner - a fitting tribute to Cognito's talents. Mos Def's familiar temples peering over a copy of the photo that rides his album cover. Great photos continue to make great tees - this one's a classic.

(All the photos of the exhibit will soon be available in book format)
